Local products propel Timberwolves to quarter-finals in double OT thriller

LETHBRIDGE, AB — The UNBC Timberwolves women’s basketball team is playoff-bound after an impressive come-from-behind double-overtime win over the Lethbridge Pronghorns Friday night, 93-85.

Once again playing shorthanded, with only seven players dressing for this game, the Timberwolves trailed 43-30 at halftime. UNBC at one point found themselves down by 15 early in the third quarter but the never say die TWolves battled back forcing overtime thanks to a 20-12 fourth quarter.

After each team notched an additional eight points in the first overtime, UNBC more than doubled the Pronghorns 2OT production exploding for 15 points in the sixth quarter of play as the Timberwolves booked their ticket to Calgary for the quarter-finals.

Prince George products Madison Landry and Emily Holmes were the heroes in this one. Landry dropping 30 points to go along with five assists and a pair of blocks. Meanwhile, senior Emily Holmes saved her best for last earning eight of her 14 points in the double-overtime frame.
