PRINCE GEORGE – Matija Tiani trained for months to run in the Boston Marathon. On Monday she had planned to run the 42.2 kilometre race that she had qualified for the second time.

The marathon was postponed because of the COVID-19 outbreak. Instead of letting all the training go to waste, she decided to run the marathon in Prince George and raise funds for Autism Speaks Canada.

Matija Tiani imagined on April 20th she would have been surrounded by thousands of other runners while participating in one of the world’s oldest annual marathons.

Along the way, friends and family supported her while respecting the social distancing guideline.

Matija Tiani says the end of the marathon was one of the most difficult parts, as she was limited to only hugging her own children and husband.
