Court is back in session: In-person proceedings start for priority matters in June

VICTORIA—Court is back in session, for some in-person proceedings.

As of June 8th the Provincial Court will resume in-person proceedings to hear priority matters in two courtrooms in each of the following six locations: Prince George, Kelowna, Surrey, Vancouver, and Victoria, according to the latest release by the Provincial Court of B.C.

A week later, on June 15th the Provincial Court will open one courtroom for in-person appearances in 28 other locations across the province including, Dawson Creek, Terrace and Quesnel. The Provincial court stresses that the “in-person proceedings will only be available for priority matters that cannot otherwise be accommodated remotely.”

Recommendations regarding measures to minimize transmission of COVID-19 in the province’s courthouses and courtrooms are in the works.
