ICBC to restart road tests for commercial truckers next week

PRINCE GEORGE —Good news for commercial truckers.

ICBC, in line with B.C.’s restart plan, will be moving forward with a phased approach to offering in-person driver licensing services.

That means commercial road tests for Class 1-4 drivers will resume next week and by appointment only.

Starting tomorrow (June 11), people wanting to obtain a commercial licence can call 1-800-950-1498 to book an appointment.

“We ask customers for their patience as we anticipate high call volumes,” says ICBC in a news release. “Priority appointments will initially be provided to customers who had their commercial road test appointments cancelled between March 17 and March 30.”

ICBC adds the plan for resuming road tests is focused on the health and safety of its employees and customers, and are aligned with guidelines set out by B.C.’s Provincial Health office.

ICBC says it will be asking customers a series of health screening questions and will be provided a mandatory medical-grade mask to wear for the duration of the road test.

ICBC says it’s planning to expand the availability of road tests to other classes of licences as soon as possible.
