VANDERHOOF – The water levels in the Nechako River at Vanderhoof are not anywhere near flood levels.
“We feel we’re in a good situation because the Nautley River system appears to be down quite a bit,” says Mayor Gerry Thiessen.

“I think we’re pretty confident that there will not be a flood,” says Councillor Brian Frenkel. “But all it takes is a couple of big rain events and then that buffer you have is going to be an issue. And I’m pretty certain you don’t want extra water going down this river hitting the peaking Fraser.”
And that’s exactly what the BC River Forecast Centre is forecasting. A major surge on the Fraser River hitting Shelley on Tuesday.
