Positions eliminated at City Hall because of COVID closures
PRINCE GEORGE – CKPG has learned of some significant layoffs at City Hall as a result of the decisions made Monday night at Council.
That is when Mayor and Council voted to keep several facilities closed for, at least, the duration of this year. That includes the Conference and Civic Centre as well as CN Centre. That decision has resulted in two prominent positions being eliminated.
Myles Tycholis headed up the Conference and Civic Centre, while Glen Mikkelsen was the face of the CN Centre for several years.
When COVID-19 first began to make its presence known, several events in both of those facilities were cancelled, such as the Council of Forest Industries slated for the Conference and Civic Centre, and the World Women’s Curling Championships, set to take place on March 14th at the CN Centre. The event was cancelled two days prior to the start.
