A reimagined Run for the Cure

Sep 16, 2020 | 11:26 AM

PRINCE GEORGE—This year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure will still go on this year.

The reimagined run will take place on Sunday, October 4. This year’s race will be a combination of virtual and physical components.

“As a high risk population, people living with cancer rely on the same healthcare system that is still responding to COVID-19 and it’s impacts. Now more than ever, the cause needs widespread support to ensure that no Canadian has to face breast cancer alone.”—Release, Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure

Runners will be able to use an app or website to create their own customized virtual runner, and will be able to unlock rewards as they fundraise.

On run day participants will be able to tune into virtual opening ceremonies before hitting the pavement for a walk or run around their neighbourhood. Performances by Barenaked Ladies, Jess Moskaluke and Carolyn Dawn Johnson will be part of the opening ceremony, which includes a high energy warm-up prior to the run

The ceremony will be livestreamed on the Canadian Cancer Society’s Facebook and Youtube channels at 8:30 a.m. PST and will be hosted by award winning singer-songwriter, July Black. To donate or register for the run click here.
