Rivard says, “we’re getting close to having 500 people attending the walk annually, and it grew from a small group of 50, so to cancel while we’re building that momentum just broke my heart.”

Tiani explains, “they brought me in and offered for me to be part of the support for the Autism Walk, and initially just prompted the idea and said ‘would you be interested in running certain kilometers and having them be sponsored.'”

Tiani’s goal is to run ten kilometers a day, six days a week.

Event organizers are encouraging members of the community to get out and walk with a blue balloon this month, a symbol of the autism movement, and to use the hashtag #ActiveForAutism.
