Five new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 82 in B.C.

VICTORIA—There are five new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health for a total of 317 since the start of the pandemic.

Provincially, 82 new cases of the virus were reported this afternoon (Oct. 1) including one epi-linked case.

Cases by health region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 3,360
  • Fraser Health: 4,712
  • Island Health: 209
  • Interior Health: 535
  • Northern Health: 317
  • People who reside outside of Canada: 87

1,261 cases are active in all health authorities across B.C. 69 people are in hospital, two of those hospitalizations are in Northern Health. Of the 69 people in hospital, 19 are in ICU.

3,093 people are being monitored by public health for being exposed to a confirmed cases of the virus. There is one new death for a total of 235.

There is one new outbreak in health care in the Fraser Health region for a total of 18 active outbreaks in the health care system. 513 residents in health care have been affected since the start of the pandemic, and 347 have been staff.

There are no new community outbreaks in the province. Community exposure events can be found on the BC Centre for Disease Control’s website.

B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer mentioned that yesterday (Sep.30) saw the highest number of COVID-19 tests completed in one day in B.C., 10,899, of which 82 tested positive. 7,695 people have recovered from COVID-19 in B.C.
