PRINCE GEORGE – It has taken many years, but one local Councillor has become the President of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

Garth Frizzell has been on the FCM since 2008 and has been the voice of local government ever since.

The Federation is the advocate for local government to the federal government and has such major successes and getting the gas tax revenues turned over the local governments.

And, while it is a shortened term because of COVID-19, he is honoured to be there.

“Looking back on it, I was thinking, when I started at FCM, my kids were two, four and six years old and now, one of them has just graduated high school,” he recounts. “They’ve lived their whole lives in public service.”

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, though, his term will be cut short but he is honoured to hold the role nonetheless.
