PG Community Foundation kicks off 25 year anniversary with $25,000 grant

PRINCE GEORGE–The Prince George Community Foundation celebrated 25 years this past weekend.

The Community Foundation was established on October 25, 1995, started from an idea by Mayor (at the time) John Backhouse.

“We are thrilled to be able to celebrate this milestone within our community and are so proud at what we’ve been able to achieve together.”–Noreen Rustad, founding Board Member

The Foundation raises funds and manages an endowment which then provides the opportunity to give grants to local charities and non-profits twice a year.

Over its 25 years, the Foundation has provided more than $2.7 million for projects by local registered charities who work to build a livable, resilient community.

The Foundation adds that planned events in celebration of the milestone will look different due to the pandemic. To kick off the 25th-anniversary the Foundation announced the recipient of their $25,000 Anniversary Grant–The Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, for their purchase of basic life support and CPR training equipment.

“The impact this grant will have for healthcare professionals and medical students in northern BC will be immense,” said Judy Neiser, CEO, Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.
