Multi-jurisdiction property offenders face charges after caught driving stolen vehicle in Northern B.C.

On October 24th, RCMP were aware that Roherty had a B.C. wide arrest warrant for Driving While Prohibited, when they tried to conduct a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle, Roherty and passenger Capot Blanc, fled.

For St. John RCMP deployed a spike belt and successfully deflated the front tires of the stolen vehicle, however, Roherty continued to drive in an effort to avoid being arrested. He struck marked police vehicles before going into a ditch at a low speed.

Police say that both suspects refused to exit the vehicle and that the Police Dog Service canine was used to assist with the arrests. Both suspects were taken to hospital to be medically cleared before being released into police custody.

Roherty now faces charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, two counts of Operate while Prohibited and will remain remanded in custody until November 9.

Blanc faces charges for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and was relead on a Release Order for Court on November 9.
