Two Civic facility updates

PRINCE GEORGE – Some good news and bad news from Administration at the latest Council meeting. Mayor and Council heard two updates, one around Transit and another around the Aquatic Centre.

In the first case, Council heard about how Transit was impacted by the COVID pandemic. It anticipates losses of more than $800,000 and ridership is about 60% of capacity. There are also some concerns about how quickly riders will return to riding the bus. However, there was also a renewed commitment to expanded transit, but on a delayed schedule.

As for the Aquatic Centre. Some good news. Come the new year, the City could double the swimmers allowed in the water, from the current number of 50 to 80, beginning January 2nd, the followed could be instituted:
