B.C. sees record-breaking 617 new COVID-19 cases

PRINCE GEORGE – Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix have released the latest COVID-19 numbers in a joint statement. There have been 617 new COVID-19 cases, province-wide, since yesterday.

Cases by Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 130
  • Fraser Health: 424
  • Vancouver Island Health: 16
  • Interior Health: 42
  • Northern Health: 5

There have been five new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region.

There are 5,579 active cases in the province as of today, and 167 people are in the hospital. There have been two new deaths.

The joint statement says, “As yesterday’s modelling update clearly showed, this is a critical time for everyone in our province. We need to act now to protect our loved ones, our Elders and our communities.”

They say, ““When faced with a resurgence of COVID-19, it can be difficult to muster the strength to keep moving forward, yet British Columbians continue to show unwavering resilience and fortitude to support friends and neighbours in our communities and take care of those who are most at risk, by following the orders and using our layers of protection.”

The statement concludes, “Now is the time for everyone, right across our province, to do their part to slow the spread of COVID-19 – to be leaders by working together with a common purpose to push our curve back down.”
