YXS’s airport tower under the microscope

PRINCE GEORGE – Nav Canada has some tough decisions to make in light of COVID.

The non-for-profit company, like the airlines, has been hit particularly hard by the pandemic. Nav Canada is now reviewing operations that may result in “workplace adjustments” in seven airport towers, including Prince George’s.

The local Airport Authority heard about the review a couple of weeks ago and will be voicing its concerns.

“Our intent is to make sure that not just the Airport Authority’s but all of our stakeholders’ voices are considered in these decisions,’ says Gordon Duke, President and CEO of the Prince George Airport Authority. “If there were to be any lowering of the service level, we would be concerned about that.”

However, Duke says he doesn’t expect any movement by Nav Canada for at least six months.
