Multiple power outages have over 1500 in the dark around Cariboo, Northern B.C. regions
PRINCE GEORGE – BC Hydro is reporting power outages in multiple areas around the region as the wet snow continues to fall.
The largest power outage is south of Quesnel with 563 customers without power due to a tree falling across power lines. According to BC Hydro, power has been off since just before 7 a.m. Friday, with no current estimated time that it could return, crews are on their way to the incident.
“This has a lot to do with trees coming into contact with power lines,” says Bob Gammer, Northern BC Community Relations Manager. “The wet snowfall can create problems adding weight to trees which normally wouldn’t be an issue.”
141 customers have also been without power since 4 a.m. this morning west of McBride, with power estimated to return around noon.
