PRINCE GEORGE – The Outdoor Recreation Council of BC is reaching out to the province for help for funding to protect outdoor recreation areas.

The Pidherny Recreation site has become one of the most popular recreation sites for non-motorized users in the City.

In an effort to protect and maintain areas like these, the Outdoor Recreation Council is turning to the province for help.

The group would like to see a $4 million increase in the annual operating budget to $12.5 million.

According to the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC, Rec Sites and Trails BC relies on volunteer organizations to maintain rec areas.

But without proper funding, it could lead to volunteer burnout.
