PRINCE GEORGE – Local mounties have arrested a man in relation to the string of mail thefts in the city.

RCMP say they caught the suspect, a 27-year-old man with mail and identification cards in his pockets that were not his.

“The mail belongs to several different people who reside in an apartment building on Union Street that recently reported mail theft. The identification belongs to a Prince George resident who reported their wallet stolen in April,” says Cst. Jennifer Cooper.

Police arrested the suspect and brought him to the Prince George Detachment, where they confirmed his identity as 27-year-old Jordan Lalonde.

Mounties caught the man on March 16, 2021 at 2:00 a.m., while investigating another matter on Central Street West.

Police recognized the male from previous dealings and detained him in relation to their current investigation

The B.C. Prosecution Service approved charges of possession of stolen property under $5000 and fail to comply with probation order against Lalonde.

The 27-year-old is back in the community on a release order until his court appearance on April 7th.
