Spring clean-up

It’s almost time for Spring Clean-Up in Prince George

Mar 26, 2021 | 4:07 PM

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George’s annual Spring Clean Up started back in April 25,1918. The idea came as a motion from the Chair of the Board of Health, that was a civic committee in the city.

But the event is back again for their one hundred third year, though, after it was cancelled last year, more work may need to be done this year.

This comes as melting snow and ice causes a season’s worth of refuse and debris, and citizens are being asked to come together with their friends and neighbors, to pitch in to clean.

The event will take place on April 25, 202.

And the Recycling and Environmental Action Planning Society (REAPS), will be handing out free bags and gloves starting April 10, 2021, from 10:00 am – 3:00 p.m. at their 1950 Gorse Street office.

Garbage collection bins will also be provided, and individuals can find the map on princegeorge.ca/SpringCleanUp.

The city is asking citizens to not throw away household hazardous waste, electronics, or yard and garden trimmings in the city bins.

But if individuals are planning to take part in this event, they must register on the city’s website.

Volunteers must also remain physically distanced (two meters), unless they are a part of the same social bubble.
