Veterinarians want vaccine

One of BC Healthcare providers cannot get the vaccine.

PRINCE GEORGE – Veterinarians call themselves the other family doctor. Recently the BC vets wrote an open letter to the province because they were denied access to the vaccine alongside BC’s other healthcare professionals.

Unlike other healthcare providers, veterinarians have limited ability to distance themselves from others while providing care for animal patients. At times animals need to be restrained.

The Society of BC Veterinarians say that on March 9, the province of determined that BC vets are not part of any group receiving the vaccine early even though many vets are concerned about an outbreak within their clinics.
