Federal election speculation ramps up

PRINCE GEORGE — Speculation about a spring federal election continues to ramp up, though a CNC political science instructor says an election call right now would be risky.

Chris Beach says it could backfire on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau considering the vaccine rollout hasn’t been going as quickly as hoped.

However he says if an election isn’t called this spring, there will likely be one in the fall as the average lifespan of a minority government is about a year-and-a-half.
