PRINCE GEORGE – While the pandemic has been tough on many local businesses, the increase in pet adoptions has positively affected at least one local pet store.

Historically a dog ready for adoption spends about a week at the BC SPCA.

However, things have changed since the pandemic started, boosting the number of people looking for a furry friend while in isolation.

The pet supply store “4 Paws Pure” has recently expanded its operations and hired staff as they noticed an increase in paw traffic.

Owner of “4 Paws Pure” Gwen Arrowsmith says some pet owners are more in tune with their pets’ health during a time of self-isolation and taking that extra effort to feed their animals differently.

With the lack of adoptable dogs, the BC SPCA suggests potential dog guardians keep trying.
