Snowpack above normal

PRINCE GEORGE – Provincial snowpack data shows snowpack levels across British Columbia are nearly all above normal.

According to the snow and water supply bulletin from the B.C. River Forecast Centre, snow accumulation began early this year and by April, approximately 95 per cent of the annual snowpack had accumulated.

The risk of spring flooding is elevated due to the above-normal snowpack across the entire province.

Snowpack is just one risk for flooding. Spring weather is also a flood risk factor, temperature fluctuations and rainfall patterns can drive flooding regardless of snowpack levels.
