RCMP Street Crew Unit seize guns, drugs, cash, and stolen items since beginning of April

PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George RCMP’s Street Crew Unit has been busy since the beginning of April seizing over one thousand dollars worth of stolen items, along with other illegal substances and weapons.

The Prince George RCMP’s Street Crew Unit ended March by executing two Controlled Drug and Substance Act warrants in an attempt to impact the street-level drug trade in Prince George.

On April 1, 2021, at 8:35 p.m., police executed a search warrant at the basement unit of a residence on the 900 block of Carney Street in relation to a drug trafficking investigation.

Police arrested an adult male and an adult female from within the residence and later released them without process pending further investigation. Police located a third male whom they arrested on outstanding warrants and held for court.

RCMP say this male had a quantity of cash and suspected illicit drugs in his possession, which are consistent with drug trafficking.

Members located scales, packaging, ammunition and an assortment of weapons commonly used in the street-level drug trade.

In the evening on April 7, 2021, members of the Street Crew unit watched three adult males and an adult female leave a motel on the 2200 block of the Hart Highway.

Police were familiar with these individuals, and as such, they continued to watch the vehicle until it parked at a business on the 5900 block of O’Grady Road.

Members of the Street Crew Unit observed the occupants of the vehicle enter the business and leave a short time later with several items. A follow-up investigation showed the suspects had stolen the merchandise, worth approximately $1500 in total.

Police quickly arrested all four suspects for Theft Under $5000 and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Street Crew executed a CDSA warrant on the motel where they originally observed the suspects leaving from and arrested two more adult females. They arrested one female on an unendorsed warrant and held her for court. The second female was released pending further investigation.

“In addition to approximately one ounce of suspected methamphetamine, members found a loaded .22 caliber rifle. One of the males arrested for theft was also the subject of an arrest during last month’s Boost and Bust project run by the Downtown Safety Unit,” states Cst. Jennifer Cooper.

Rounding out their week of warrants, on April 8, 2021, in relation to an ongoing drug trafficking investigation, Street Crew executed the last CDSA warrant at a residence on the 2100 block of Spruce Street.

Police arrested ten adults on the scene, releasing all but two of them pending further investigation. The search of this residence yielded a number of drugs including suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl and suspected crack cocaine. Police also seized scales, packaging, ammunition, and a multitude of weapons, including a replica pistol, in addition to a quantity of cash.

“This is the second CDSA warrant executed on this residence in the past month,” says Sergeant Chad Chamberlain of the Street Crew Unit. “Not to mention another series of enforcement actions whereby the Street Crew Unit has removed both guns and drugs from our streets.”
