Apr 28, 2021 | 4:13 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – There is plenty of excitement cooking up in School District 57, as three revamped culinary classes were approved by the Board of Education unanimously on Tuesday evening.

The three classes will be:

  • Cafeteria – Line cook
  • Cafeteria – Prep cook
  • Cafeteria – Food Service

The courses for grades 11 and 12 will be led by red seal chef Erick Vliegenthart who has plenty of firsthand industry experience to offer students.

The goal of the three courses is all the same, to give students a stepping stone for the future if they choose to have a career in the culinary industry.

All three avenues of the course provide a direct bridge to further culinary programs offered locally at the College of New Caledonia.

Even students who don’t take the course will benefit from getting a taste of the success sold for $5 daily at the P.G.S.S. cafeteria.
