Dutch flag-raising brings back memories for local woman

PRINCE GEORGE – A flag-raising ceremony was held for about a dozen people at City Hall on Friday, many looked on, flooded with memories as the Holland anthem played.

Betty Bekkering was one of them, remembering her late husband Hank.

“The National Anthem from Holland it was always at say the Olympics, soccer, Hank was right there with his orange shirt and all of his Dutch paraphernalia, but most of all he was totally a Canadian.”
