PRINCE GEORGE – Parents of children who attend Pineview Elementary are concerned that their kids’ safety is at risk.

This as some drivers continue to speed excessively on the highway outside the school grounds.

Over the past few years, some parents at Pineview elementary have taken steps to mitigate speeders in the area by installing radar speed signs.

According to one concerned parent, 40 per cent of the vehicles that pass the school are going 20 kilometres over the limit.

Many fearful parents don’t allow their children to walk to school.

Drivers who do not follow the speed limit can expect to pay between $196 and $253 for a ticket. School speed zones are in effect from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on school days.
