Local mom is excited to have her 14-year old son vaccinated as soon as possible

The mom and son have been closely monitoring the vaccine rollouts across Canada, anxiously waiting for his turn at getting his shot.

“There are some parts that have been difficult but it hasn’t been the worst thing ever with all the new technology coming out, makes it a lot easier.” said Everett.

But now, Everett has the chance of getting his life back to normal.

“I can’t see not wearing masks for the rest of the year but it’ll be nice to hang out with friends and grandparents again at least.”

Research from Diabetes Canada found that those who have type 1 diabetes aren’t more likely to get the virus. Yet, they do have a higher risk of getting severe symptoms. Which is one of the reasons why Robyn wants to have her son vaccinated as soon as possible.

“So we’ve been paying attention to the research by the Juvenile Diabetes Association and there are no indications why he shouldn’t get it. Any viruses or illnesses are sort of extra dangerous for Everett so we’re excited to get it soon.” said Robyn Beauregard

They’re consistently checking with local health officials to get the latest on the vaccine and its effects.

“Everett has a a really good pediatrician and there’s a wonderful diabetes team in Prince George and we will definitely check in with them right at the last minute and make sure that it’s still recommended.”

Until then, the family is waiting on details from the province on how he can get registered and vaccinated.
