PRINCE GEORGE – While this is Emergency Preparedness Week, the City and the Regional District of Fraser Fort George say residents need to be prepared for an emergency 24/7, 365 days a week.

The City recently updated its emergency plan, which was first crafted in 2009.

“We made it a little bit more Prince George-centric and more regionally relevant,” says Clay Sheen with the Prince George Fire Department.

And the Regional District is encouraging everyone, whether they live in the city or not, to sign up with the emergency warning system.

“It allows us to reach you, a lot of people, on short notice, very quickly, about a fast-moving emergency,” explains Anita deDreu, Emergency Services Coordinator for the Reginal District.

She says it is easy to access and will give you the heads-up on a pending calamity.
