Local comedian making the best of pandemic

PRINCE GEORGE – It wasn’t long ago that Prince George native Alex Mackenzie had big plans for his comedy career.

That was back in July 2019 to be exact. CKPG News was there to interview Mackenzie when he announced plans to become an international entertainer.

“So the plan, basically everything that could’ve gone wrong, like everyone is like what if this happens, what if that happens. It’s like everything that could’ve gone wrong went wrong,” says Mackenzie.

Those plans are still in place, albeit delayed by a year.

Mackenzie has pivoted though, trying to make the best of a tough stretch for comedians.

In early 2021, he launched Comedy Night In Canada, joining forces with others in the same boat across the industry.

Mackenzie joked the convenient part right now, is that everyone has plenty of free time.
