Zero percent budget finalized
PRINCE GEORGE – No sooner did Council take the final step in approving the tax hike of zero percent for this year and the discussion around next year got underway, with some Councillors suggesting there will be some tough decisions next year as well.
Earlier this year, Council opted to use half of the $6.1 million provincial Safe Restart money to manage a zero percent, although it was not a unanimous decision. Councillor Cori Ramsay noted again at this meeting that she was opposed to the zero percent adding there will be tough decisions next year.
Both Councillors Brian Skakun and Kyle Sampson were asking if the City’s Finance Department could give Council a preview a little earlier than November when the Finance and Audit Committee beings forward recommendations.
