FORT ST. JAMES — The Fort St James RCMP has issued a public health announcement due to the number of drug overdose cases they are seeing in the community and surrounding areas.

Police and BC Emergency Health Services have responded to numerous overdoses, including two calls for service in one day at the same house. Sadly, one person died in that case.

In light of this situation, police say it’s important that witnesses report overdoses by calling 9-1-1 immediately.

They’re also urging drug users to take safety precautions such as avoiding using drugs alone, to be careful how much they use and to always have a narcan kit close by.

If you know anyone who may be selling drugs in the community, you are urged to call police or Crime Stoppers.
