BCNE not going anywhere, gearing up for return in 2022

PRINCE GEORGE – The sales of Silver Stetson’s will have to wait until 2022 along with amusement rides and other activities at one of the longest standing traditions in Prince George.

The BC Northern Exhibition announced this week that they would not run their event this summer even if restrictions changed in time.

Sylvia Layzell, General Manager of the BC Northern Exhibition says unpredictable restrictions have made making plans near impossible.

Layzell says plans are made months in advance for a BCNE, and making them ‘on a whim’ is just not possible.

There is plenty of optimism on the horizon with more and more people being immunized against COVID-19 every day, but it just can’t happen quick enough.

There was even more hope when the PNE in Vancouver had briefly received approval to operate, but even that came crashing down.

“There was a glimmer of hope, but even that seems to have faded,” says Layzell.

So now in the meantime, maintenance will be conducted on the BCNE grounds, to prep for what will surely be a much anticipated return in 2022.
