PRINCE GEORGE — A major milestone for a board director at Spruce Credit Union.

Founding family member Len Thony recently celebrated his 50th year as a board director at the 70th Annual General Meeting last week.

It all started for Thony back in 1951 when his parents were involved in the formation of Sacred Heart, the beginnings of Spruce Credit Union.

He then joined the credit union and became a Director when he was 20 years old. He later served as Chairman for 34 years and as Vice Chair for 11 years.

The credit union honoured Thony by naming their boardroom the “Len Thony Room.”

“My journey with the credit union feels a bit like raising a child. I started in 1969 when there were very few dollars on deposit and today I am so proud of the Credit Union and how far we’ve come,” said Thony.

“Thank you to the members for providing your support over the years and to my wife, Dorothy, for understanding my desire to be a part of the growth and success of the Credit Union.”

Thony plans to continue his role as 2nd Vice Chair on Spruce Credit Union’s Board of Directors.
