Young people aged 12 to 17 can register to receive their COVID-19 vaccine

PRINCE GEORGE — The daily number of COVID-19 cases rose to 521 today, up 110 from Tuesday in British Columbia.

That brings the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 140,596. Of those, 133,985 have recovered.

Here’s the regional breakdown of new cases:

Vancouver Coastal Health: 77

  • Fraser Health: 335
  • Island Health: 18
  • Interior Health: 62
  • Northern Health: 29

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says there are 4,815 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 340 people hospitalized, 118 of whom are in intensive care.

There have been eight new COVID-19 related deaths, for a total of 1,658 deaths.

2,623,907 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C., 135,246 of which are second doses.

Today, young people 12 to 17 years old may register to receive their vaccine, with more details to come tomorrow.
