Local boy saves bird from being stoned to death
PRINCE GEORGE – Luka Yarmish, heard a bunch of kids yelling and screaming in the bushes between two SD 57 schools. He and his friend decided to see what the commotion was about, only to find a group of students throw stones at a baby crow, that had fallen to the ground.
The area is usually filled with a mixture of students from both DP Todd and Heritage. Yarmish says, the bird was likely knocked out of its nest by a hawk and couldn’t fly back into its nest as it was still too young.
He thinks that’s when the kids heard the bird’s cries and started to attack it. There is a happy ending however, the crow is now in the care of second chance wildlife and luckily will survive.
