Teams from Pool B, which included the Cougars, and Pool C had the opportunity to obtain the first-overall selection in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, while WHL Division Champions from Pool A had the opportunity to move up and select sixth overall.

The Spokane Chiefs won Wednesday’s draft lottery. The Tri-City Americans will pick second, the Brandon Wheat Kings have the third and fourth overall selections, after previous trades with the Victoria Royals and Moose Jaw Warriors. The Red Deer Rebels round out the top five.

The 2021 WHL Prospects Draft is scheduled for Thursday, December 9, 2021.

Players eligible for the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft will be 2006-born players who reside in Alberta, B.C., Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
