Ness Lake Bible Camp reopens with changes this summer

PRINCE GEORGE–This summer, kids can look forward to more outdoor activities at camp. The Ness Lake Bible Camp is back on this year.

Kids can expect all the activities they normally get to do at the camp this summer.

“It’s gonna be canoeing, kayaking, to the waterfront which is the blob and the iceburg that they get to climb and play on, that kinda stuff.” said Executive Director Elliott Harder

Harder says that parents can expect some big changes as well. The camp won’t be allowing kids to have overnight sleepovers. Harder says he knows that parents may have trouble with driving kids to and from the camp. So he’s come up with a solution.

“One of the amazing things is that we’re providing transportation from Prince George out to camp. So one of the pick up locations is gonna be the Ron Brent Elementary school, the other one will be the Hartland Baptist Church and we’ll pick the kids up in the morning, they’ll come out here have an amazing day here at camp and then in the evening we’re gonna take them back and we’re gonna meet there as parents and drop them off and they can sleep in their own beds in the comfort of all that and then we can do it all the next day.” said Harder.

The camp starts at the end of the month and runs for nine weeks. So far more than 600 kids have already registered and spots are filling up fast.

Even with COVID restrictions potentially loosening in the coming weeks to allow overnight sleepovers, Harder says it would still be difficult to implement it

“We still don’t know what those restrictions are gonna be, we’re anticipating that hopefully next week we could get those. But regardless I think it’s a little too late for us to make the changes that we have to make to do the overnight, it would probably involve a lot of parents are already planning their kids just to come for the daycamp.” said Harder.

The camp is also hosting a Cans for Kids fundraiser. You can help by dropping off cans and bottles at the Nechako Bottle Depot on Saturday June 5th to help send kids to camp who can’t afford it.
