Elusive emu still missing near Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE – An emu that has still has earned plenty of interactions on social media is still missing south of the city.

The exotic animal was first seen on Monday in parts of the BCR site, and along Boundary Road, before the flightless bird dubbed ‘Dora The Explorer’ ended up beside the runway at the Prince George Airport (YXS).

From there the bird was transported to Black Spruce Farms temporarily, less than 24 hours later, the elusive emu escaped once again.

As of Thursday, the whereabouts of the feathery fowl remains unknown.

The original owner of the bird is also still unknown.

Even if you see it, there may not be anyone to come and capture the domesticated bird.

Sightings have ranged along city limits, into the regional district’s boundaries, making a big difference on which crews can respond.

The BC Conservation Officer Service says they don’t have any expertise to catch an emu, and the City of Prince George’s animal control crew says they don’t either.

The advice from the regional district is simple, keep your distance from the bird.
