City installing crosswalk at Tyner Boulevard at Baker Rd

PRINCE GEORGE — The City of Prince George is set to start work on a new crosswalk on Tyner Boulevard at Baker Road.

The crosswalk was identified as a high priority as part of the City’s Pedestrian Crossing Strategy last year.

Out of 202 City Crosswalks evaluated as part of the Strategy, 43 crossings were recommended for upgrade or installation.

The crosswalk will be a “rectangular rapid flashing beacon” design. This means that in addition to the standard crosswalk pavement markings and signage, the new crosswalk will allow pedestrians to push a button to activate flashing lights to alert motorists to the presence of pedestrians at the crossing.
