Fire crews respond to Friday night blaze in downtown Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE — UPDATE: Prince George Fire Rescue said the cause of Friday’s fire is currently under investigation but considered suspicious in nature.

The fire was isolated to Special Beauty Parlor and Day Spa with no surrounding exposures affected.

There were no injuries due to the fire, but damages to the building cost an estimated $320,000.

EARLIER: Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a downtown fire late last evening (June 18).

The blaze broke out before 11 p.m.at 3rd Avenue and Dominion Street, damaging Special Beauty Parlor and Day Spa, along with possible damages to neighbouring businesses.

Five fire trucks and a ladder truck attended the scene along with BC Hydro, Fortis BC, and the RCMP. The fire was brought under control at around midnight.

Third Avenue between Dominion and George Streets is closed. No word yet on the cause or of any possible injuries. We’ll update this story as soon as more information is released.
