Keeping your kids and pets safe, during the heatwave
PRINCE GEORGE – As Prince George continues to deal with this heatwave, there is a reminder for folks when it comes to leaving their kids and pets in the car. Temperatures inside a closed car can soar to dangerous levels in as little as ten minutes.
According to both Northern Health and Prince George RCMP, they recommend, you just don’t do it!.
” The extreme heat we are facing here in the North, it is never okay to be leaving children, pets, or anyone in the car, even with the windows completely open.” Said, Dr. Rakel Kling, who is the Medical Health Officer for Northern Health ” It gets incredibly hot inside a vehicle extremely quickly, so it’s just not safe at these temperatures. ”
