Over 300 people vaccinated at CN Centre drive-thru clinic

Jul 13, 2021 | 4:44 PM

PRINCE GEORGE- Hundreds of people received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine last week, at a drive-thru clinic in the CN Centre parking lot.

“We immunized around 320 people throughout the three evenings that this clinic was offered – that is pretty successful,” said Spokesperson for Northern Health, Eryn Collins.

The clinic was intended to be a more accessible way for people to get their vaccines versus registering for a mass clinic.

“We are now shifting to looking at other opportunities and other ways that we can make [getting your vaccine] accessible and low-barrier and convenient,” continued Collins.

70% of people in Prince George, 12 and up, have received their first dose. In addition, 80.2% of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 49.1% have received their second.

If you are waiting to get your first or second dose there are multiple locations available to you.

“We have the ongoing clinic that is taking place at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre. That is currently running Monday through Saturday from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. We encourage people to register in the system particularly if they haven’t yet for their first dose because they will be conveniently notified when it is time for their second,” said Collins.

If you have an idea for a pop-up vaccine location you are welcome to contact Northern Health.

“We are open for ideas if people have thoughts on a venue or a kind of clinic that might be successful in their neighbourhood. We are inviting those ideas to be shared with us at covid-19@northernhealth.ca,” said Collins.

The next pop-up clinic will be in the old Le Chateau location in Pine Centre mall, running from July 15 to July 18, 2021. This will be for the first dose only, ages 12 and up and no appointment necessary.
