Caledonia Nordic Ski Club moving on bid for 2024 events
PRINCE GEORGE – The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club is forging ahead with a bid to host the 2024 Para biathlon World Championships and the 2024 World Para Nordic Skiing World Cup Finals, thanks to a financial commitment of $250,000 from the City. It comes after a highly successful Worth Para Nordic Skiing Championships in 2019.
“We’ve shown the recipe for success. There’s not a lot of uncertainty,” explains Kevin Pettersen, Director of Competitions for the Club.
The financial commitment from the City is as follows: $20,000 this year, $20,000 next year, and $200,000 in 2024. But it took some convincing on the part of the club. The money will come from the Major Events Fund, which is financed through gaming money and that fund is empty as the Treasure Cove Casino hasn’t been open for months.
