Police dog assists in arrest
PRINCE GEORGE — A 29-year-old Prince George man is facing charges following an alleged break-and-enter last weekend.
Prince George RCMP Cst. Jennifer Cooper says at 7 p.m. on July 11, police received a call for help from a resident living on the 4200 block of Cowart Road who told police two men were on his property trying to break into an outbuilding.
RCMP arrived to find an outbuilding with a broken lock and a second outbuilding with a broken door. Cooper says some items were missing from the second building.
“A Police Dog Services team attended the location of the break and enter, and the Police Service Dog was able to successfully locate one of the suspects as he attempted to cross Highway 16. The Police Dog also located a backpack nearby that matches the one seen on the suspect in video surveillance from the residence. The second suspect was not located.”
