Local not-for-profit helping Yekooche FN evacuees
PRINCE GEORGE – As evacuees continue to find shelter in Prince George, a local not-for-profit has stepped up to help their First Nations Peoples. Carrier Sekani Family Services has set up a booth at the North Star Hotel for the Yekooche First Nations Peoples, who were evacuated earlier this week.
Carrier Sekani said they are in contact with the City and will provide their services to their clients and wherever else is needed. The city has put to action their own plan for evacuees and are prepared to welcome as many as needed.
The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako put an evacuation order, Thursday night for the area near Manson Lake. Those evacuees are being asked to register at the Super 8 Hotel in Prince George.
The city is also in close contact with 100 Mile House, and is expecting more evacuees from that area.
