PRINCE GEORGE — Favourable weather conditions have allowed the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George and the Nazko First Nation to rescind its evacuation alert for the Shesta Lake and Punchaw area fires.

The following statement was released regarding that decision:

“Due to recent precipitation and success in establishing control lines around the wildland fires located in the Shesta Lake and Punchaw area including Nahlquonate 2 and Deep Creek 5. BC Wildfire crews have made good progress on these wildfires and are not anticipating an evacuation alert to be necessary at this time.

“The public is urged to continue to exercise extreme caution with sources of ignition, and implement FireSmart principles around your home and property.”
