Chinese Culture celebrated

BARKERVILLE – This is Chinese Cultural Heritage Week and Northern BC has a long-standing history with China.

There have been Chinese miners in the Cariboo dating back to the Gold Rush and half of the population of Barkerville at that time was Chinese.

There is a large commemorative display at Barkerville today, as they play a huge role in the history of the region. Chinese Cultural Heritage wraps up Sunday.
