UPDATED: Highway 97 north of Prince George now re-open following serious MVI

PRINCE GEORGE – Highway 97 has now re-opened to both lanes of traffic following a serious motor vehicle accident early Wednesday afternoon which sent one to hospital in critical condition.

Earlier:

The collision involving a logging truck and a passenger vehicle has closed Highway 97 near Old Summit Lake Road just north of Prince George according to RCMP.

Prince George RCMP say motorists should expect the highway to be closed for hours.

There is no expected re-opening time of the highway, and RCMP say there is no detour available.

BC Emergency Health Services says three ambulances were dispatched to the scene along with a helicopter.

Emergency crews say one patient was transported to hospital in critical condition.

There is no word on any other injuries.

BC EHS says they received a call to report the collision at 1:17 pm on Wednesday afternoon.
