PRINCE GEORGE – Green Party supporters and candidates were busy Thursday afternoon setting up their campaign headquarters on 7th Avenue downtown.

The Green Party candidates for this federal election revealed earlier this week are second-time Catharine Kendall for Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies and first-time candidate Dr. Leigh Hunsinger-Chang for Cariboo-Prince George.

Kendall says the focus for the party remains climate change, although says other issues like the opioid crisis and mental health are also top priorities this election period for her and the party.

“I’m running because we have a climate crisis,” says Kendall. “That issue is not going away, we have glaciers melting and it needs to be dealt with.”

Kendall is a single mom, and has six children, living in rural Prince George for over 20 years.

The other Green Party candidate Hunsinger-Chang is the mother of two and runs a family practice with two colleagues while teaching as a clinical assistant professor in the UNBC Medical Program.
